Mimoda Studio is a multi-purpose dance studio and creative events space in the heart of Los Angeles adjacent to the burgeoning Paper or Plastik Cafe. Designed for adventurous artists, Mimoda Studio is home to original programming unique to LA, including the resident Mimoda Jazzo Gruppa, a physical theater troupe founded by owner, Yasha Michelson. Seamlessly transforming into a stage, a gallery, a gathering point, a photo studio, or a rehearsal space, Mimoda Studio adapts to all needs and works devoted to art. The events calendar at Mimoda includes monthly classical music concerts, an ongoing film club feature both new and old selections, weekly dance parties, and a variety of classes for both children and adults.
Housed in a building that dates back to the 1950s, Mimoda Studio was formerly home to the renowned Dancers Studio, while the street front cafe was home to a printing press. Renovated in recent years to highlight the building's intrinsic character, the space features exposed high-beam wooden ceilings, stunning woodwork, and gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows that are unrivaled in Mid-City.

Paper or Plastik Café is a neighborhood café that prides itself on carefully prepared, excellently sourced coffee and food of the highest quality. Our adjacent dance studio, Mimoda Studio can be viewed from the mezzanine level of the café.
A family business run by design team Anya and Yasha Michelson with their daughter Marina, Paper or Plastik’s dedication to quality does not stop at coffee. Our made in-house menu includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a selection of pastries, rotating daily market salads, and flatbreads. We offer a casual seated service in the evenings with a small dinner menu that features a few house staples complemented by market-driven specials added nightly.
